The Smithereens with Marshall Crenshaw
The River Club Music Hall 78 Border St.,Scituate,Ma. is proud to bring to its stage The Smithereens with guest vocalist Marshall Crenshaw Friday, December 20, 2019.
The surviving members of The Smithereens recently announced that the band would continue following the Dec.2017 death of front man Pat DiNizio. Instead of installing a permanent front man they decided to use various guest vocalists. For our show, they will be accompanied by Marshall Crenshaw.
The Smithereens formed in 1980 and have toured and recorded continuously since then. They may not be the biggest rock band to ever come out of New Jersey but they are arguably one the best representations of a Jersey band, combining a Jersey rock and roll vibe with a Beatlesque sound.
Marshall Crenshaw is a singer songwriter musician best known for his song Someday,Someway. His music has roots in classic soul music and Buddy Holly-the latter to whom Crenshaw was often compared to in the early days of his career whom he portrayed in the 1987 movie “La Bamba”.
“ Although he was seen as a latter day Buddy Holly at the outset, he soon proved too talented and original to be anyone but himself”
